Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ½ cup whole milk (warm)
  • ¼ cup heavy cream (optional, for extra richness)

Instructions

  1. Peel and cut potatoes into 1½-inch chunks for even cooking.
  2. Place in a pot, cover with cold water, add salt, and bring to a boil.
  3. Simmer for 15–20 minutes until tender, then drain well.
  4. Mash the potatoes using a masher or ricer — avoid food processors.
  5. Warm butter and milk together, then gradually mix into potatoes.
  6. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Adjust consistency with more milk or cream if needed.
  8. Garnish with herbs or crispy bacon bits before serving.
